REGINA — Women’s Entrepreneurship Day 2025, Nov. 19, annually, recognizes the contributions of women entrepreneurs to Saskatchewan’s economic prosperity and community growth.

Women-led businesses have become a driving force in Saskatchewan’s economy. In 2019 alone, women entrepreneurs contributed $23.1 billion to the province’s GDP and supported over 192,000 jobs. Today, 21 per cent of Saskatchewan’s private sector businesses are majority-owned by women, an inspiring reflection of their innovation, resilience and leadership, states a Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK) press release.

WESK says that despite this progress, women entrepreneurs still face the same systemic barriers that existed when the orgaization was founded in 1995, including access to funding, mentorship and resources. That’s why targeted support and tailored programs remain vital, WESK says.

“Women entrepreneurs are not only helping shape Saskatchewan’s business community, but they are also a driving force behind its economic growth,” said Miriam Johnson, CEO of WESK.

“Their contributions are creating jobs, building local economies, and strengthening communities across the province. At WESK, we are proud to continue supporting women at every stage of business, and we are honoured to celebrate their impact during Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.”

By showcasing real success stories, WESK aims to demonstrate that entrepreneurship is not only a viable career path for women, but one that can thrive with the right support and resources. When women see others like them succeeding in business, it builds confidence, fosters ambition, and strengthens the entrepreneurial ecosystem across Saskatchewan.

To mark this occasion, WESK will host eight events across Saskatchewan from Nov. 16–20, with support from ecosystem partner, WeBC, bringing together entrepreneurs, community leaders, and supporters to celebrate women in business:
