Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK) is marking Women’s Entrepreneurship Day 2025 with a week-long, province-wide celebration from November 16 to 20, spotlighting the women whose innovation and leadership continue to drive Saskatchewan’s economy forward.

Held annually on November 19, Women’s Entrepreneurship Day recognizes the economic and community contributions of women entrepreneurs. This year’s theme underscores the importance of sustaining and growing opportunities for women in business, especially as the future of Canada’s Women Entrepreneurship Strategy remains uncertain.

“Women entrepreneurs are not only helping shape Saskatchewan’s business community, but they are also a driving force behind its economic growth,” said Miriam Johnson, CEO of WESK. “Their contributions are creating jobs, building local economies, and strengthening communities across the province. At WESK, we are proud to continue supporting women at every stage of business, and we are honoured to celebrate their impact during Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.”

Women-led businesses have become a vital part of Saskatchewan’s economic fabric. In 2019, women entrepreneurs contributed $23.1 billion to the province’s GDP and supported over 192,000 jobs. Today, 21% of Saskatchewan’s private sector businesses are majority-owned by women. Yet, despite that success, systemic barriers—such as access to funding, mentorship, and networks—continue to limit growth potential.

This year, WESK is amplifying its celebration by hosting eight events across the province, in partnership with WeBC, to highlight women’s achievements and share their stories.

Celebrating Across the Province

Events are planned in North Battleford, Wynyard, Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, Regina, Swift Current, Esterhazy, and Yorkton, each featuring panels of local entrepreneurs sharing insights and experiences.

Jessica Pegg, WESK’s Program and Growth Manager, said the expanded series marks a milestone for the organization.

“We haven’t been able to reach this many communities before in one week,” Pegg said. “It’s a really exciting way for us to showcase real success stories and demonstrate that entrepreneurship is not only a viable career path for women, but one that can really thrive with the right support and resources.”

In Wynyard, the local event will take place on November 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Pen & Page Bookshop. Regional ambassador Marea Olafson, owner of Freba Pottery, will serve as one of the evening’s speakers. She’ll be joined by Amanda Parkinson, a WESK business advisor specializing in human resources, and Corrina Kapeller from Tourism Saskatchewan’s Regional Development Department.

Pegg said the Wynyard panel will explore the role of women in tourism, the challenges of rural entrepreneurship, and how local collaboration can strengthen business ecosystems.

“Each community has something unique to offer,” she added. “These panels give women a platform to share their journeys and inspire others right in their own regions.”

Spotlighting Success and Building Networks

Each WESK event will feature networking opportunities, mentorship discussions, and celebrations of local entrepreneurship. By amplifying these stories, WESK hopes to encourage more women to explore business ownership and leadership roles.

“When women see others like them succeeding in business, it builds confidence, fosters ambition, and strengthens the entrepreneurial ecosystem across Saskatchewan,” said Johnson.

With over 30 years of advocacy and programming behind it, WESK continues to serve as a vital hub for women in business—offering mentorship, advisory services, and community support across the province.

As Saskatchewan prepares to celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day 2025, the message from WESK and its partners is clear: women entrepreneurs are not only essential to the province’s economy—they are shaping its future.

Events are scheduled in the following communities and locations:
