For a second year, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture is partnering with Senator Robert Black and Julie Black to support Ontario’s next generation of farm business leaders in their professional development journey.

Through this collaboration, four young farmers from across Ontario will attend the upcoming Agricultural Excellence (AgEx) Conference hosted by Farm Management Canada (FMC).

AgEx is an annual event dedicated to advancing farm business management — from innovation and resilience to growth strategy and leadership. The 2025 conference will be held in Winnipeg from November 18-19 with a theme “Gaining Ground”.  The conference agenda emphasizes strengthening foundations, embracing innovation, and building resilience. New this year is a special Young Farmer Summit on Nov. 18, sponsored by Farm Credit Canada.

The four individuals will take part in thought-provoking sessions, engaging in group discussions, and networking with peers, advisers, and industry

leaders from across Canada. They’ll return with insights, connections and inspiration to bring back to their farms and to our broader Ontario agriculture community.

OFA’s executive member Paul Maurice will join the four young farmers at the conference in Winnipeg next month:

  • Jordyn Domio is the current president of the Junior Farmers Association of Ontario (JFAO). She grew up on her family’s fruit farm in Niagara, is a member of the Wentworth-Niagara club, works as an agricultural programs analyst for the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association, and has been a Director with the Niagara Federation of Agriculture for four years.
  • Carson Wagner is the past president of JFAO. He hails from New Hamburg, where he helps run his family’s dairy farm, milking about 60 cows with a robot. He also runs a custom bale wrapping business. Carson’s been a member of Oxford County Junior Farmers for nine years.
  • Sarah Danen is the director of community and international programs for JFAO, having had the opportunity to travel on exchange to Ireland. She’s also been a member of Oxford County Junior Farmers for nine years. Sarah lives and works on her parents’ dairy farm and has a full-time job as an Agriculture Client Relationship Manager at Scotiabank.
  • Brady Wytenburg is the east zone director for JFAO. He’s currently a member of the Renfrew County Junior Farmers, having held multiple positions on the local club’s executive. He sells and services tractors and equipment at Bromley Farm Supply in Douglas, Ont. Brady’s also a Business-Agriculture graduate, which he uses to help his family’s cash crop and finish beef cattle farm.
