FSPS makes administrative appointments

Fort Smith Public Schools recently appointed three new administrators on staff.

Executive Director of Student Services

Michael Farrell has been named executive director of Student Services. He has served as the supervisor of Student Services since 2013, in which he and his team established the district’s comprehensive school counseling program.

“I am extremely humbled to follow the path set by Brenda Sellers, Randy Bridges and Darian Layes. It is an honor for me to follow their path and to work with an administration I deeply respect and who are committed to building relationships,” Farrell said.

Prior to his role as supervisor, Farrell served FSPS as the coordinator of student services, principal of Darby, Northside High School assistant principal, director of and counselor at Belle Point Center. He holds a bachelor of arts in history from the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas, a masters in education in counseling from the University of Houston in Texas, and a doctorate in education administration from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Farrell also serves on the Sebastian County Aquatic Association Board. He and his wife have four children and two grandchildren.

Ms. Terresa Dewey

Assistant Director of Student Services

Terresa Dewey has been named assistant director of Student Services. She has served the district as the coordinator of Student Services since 2014. Prior to her role in student services, Dewey served as principal of Tilles and Bonneville elementary schools, and assistant principal of Cook and Fairview elementary schools, and was a teacher at Sunnymede Elementary School. She has been an FSPS employee since 1997. She holds a bachelor of science in education from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, a masters of education from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and an educational specialist degree from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. 

Dr. Keri Rathbun

Director of Coordinated School Health and Career Counseling

Keri Rathbun has been named as the FSPS director of coordinated School Health and Career Counseling. She will be develop a comprehensive initiative to address the components of coordinated school health, as well as provide instructional and leadership services to prepare students with the related academic critical thinking, workplace readiness, and technical skills essential in pursuing career pathways.
